Soulworks is the alias of Ben Smethurst, who is an up and coming UK based songwriter & producer. Ben has been involved with making music for many years and started out as a rock guitarist, playing the pub club circuit during the late 80`s & early 90`s. Coming from a very musical family he was exposed to a querky mix of classical, motown, soul and rock which has had a strong influence on his own writing style.

In 1991 he moved from Bolton to Derbyshire to play in a rock band and had some success supporting headline acts on the national circuit. After several years hard work without a major break he decided to put the music on one side to focus on his education at the University of Derby.

It was during this time that one of his friends introduced him to house music. His first real exposure to house music was listening to early mixes by Sasha, Frankie Knuckles & David Morales which opened his mind to the possibilities of electronic music and naturally led Ben to experiment with keyboards and house music production.

Over the past few years Ben has established himself as a producer/remixer working with some of the most respected artists and labels within the house music industry.
